    Advance tickets

    Advance tickets are great value Single (one-way) tickets but have limited availability, so they can sell out fast! To take advantage of these great value tickets you must book ahead - Advance tickets are made available by train operators up to 12 weeks ahead of travel but, subject to availability, you can still get a last-minute bargain up until 18:00 on the day before travel.

    Often, just like flights, the earlier you book, the cheaper the train fares and the greater the value for money! Ticket types and prices are displayed with the timetables, so you can find Advance fares quickly and book your train tickets online.

    Remember, Advance tickets are Singles - but if you want to book tickets for a Return journey, just mix and match two cheap Single Advance tickets.

    Advance tickets are only valid for the date and train they are booked for, and can only be bought online. These tickets are non-refundable but can be amended before departure. Remember, Advance tickets are subject to availability - the cheapest Advance tickets sell out quickly!

    Refunds & amendments

    Refunds

    Anytime and Off-Peak tickets may be eligible for a refund. Advance tickets are non-refundable.

    Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds for self-print and mobile tickets.

    Amendments

    You may be able to amend your Advance ticket if this is necessary.

    Providing you pay the applicable admin and amendment fees and apply to amend your ticket before 18:00 on the day before the original travel date booked, you may be able to change the following details (Advance tickets are always subject to availability):-

    • Travel date
    • Travel time

    Please note, you cannot amend the following:-

    • Journey origin
    • Journey destination
    • Journey route
